Rebuilding Together Long Island has a wonderful, dedicated core of volunteers who are committed to helping our neighbors across Long Island. The safety of all our volunteers whether they work in the field or the office, the safety of our constituents, the safety of all our clients and the protection of our assets and our reputation are our highest concern. To reduce any potential risks, all volunteers are asked to undergo a criminal background that complies with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). As you go through this process, you will also be asked to pay the nominal fee of $19 for this background. We hope that you understand the need for this and we are eager to have you join our team. If you have any questions, please call our office.

Step Two

Background Check

To start this process, you’ll follow four easy steps by click on the Start Background Check button below. It will only take a few minutes to complete the process.

  1. For the first step, you’ll set up your account with a user name and password. You may also set up additional security questions if you like.

  2. In the second step, you’ll be asked to provide a Good Deed Code, please enter: e8zshmg. Be sure to enter our full name when asked, Rebuilding Together Long Island. Next, you’ll provide your name, date of birth, social security number, gender and contact info. You will also be asked to provide your current address and how long you have lived in the home.

  3. The third step explains your rights as provided by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. On the right side of that page, please print and retain a copy of your consent and rights.

  4. The fourth and final step asks you to verify the information that you provided and to enter your credit card information. You will receive a $19 charge from Sterling Volunteers to your account for the background check.
