Repairing homes.
Revitalizing communities.
Rebuilding lives.
“What would I do without you. The crew was excellent, very respectful, understanding and polite. I appreciate all they did.”
Rebuilding Together Long Island is your local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit dedicated to making homes safer, healthier, and more accessible. We are a volunteer-driven organization, powered by neighbors who give their time and skills to help neighbors in need. Since 1992, our volunteers have helped Long Islanders remain safe, independent, and connected to the communities they call home.
Our Story
The national organization was originally called Christmas in April. Inspired by that mission, our founders, Joe Botkin and the late Sol Goldstein, recognized that the need for home repairs and accessibility improvements extended far beyond a single month. In 1992, they launched the Long Island affiliate, creating a local program rooted in volunteerism and community care.
Since then, the program has grown steadily. Volunteers provide critical home safety repairs and accessibility modifications for seniors, veterans, and families across Long Island. Each project strengthens neighborhoods, supports homeowners, and brings people together to care for their community.
